Homes of Our Own is a Community Led Housing partnership between Community First, Wiltshire Community Land Trust (WCLT), Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council.
The partnership vision is to enable and support community groups to deliver housing development that provides defined community benefits which are protected in perpetuity. Furthermore the project vision is to provide a legacy for community led development. Localism and innovation lies at the heart of the vision and it is helping to build stronger and more resilient communities.
The partnership supports and enables groups seeking to deliver alternative solutions to their community housing needs beyond the mainstream delivery mechanisms. It also supports community groups working in a developer-community partnership.
The Homes of Our Own team is hosted by Community First and Wiltshire Council and includes skills and experience in Community Led Housing, community engagement, housing needs, affordable housing, planning, procurement of services and project management.
This work makes a great contribution to our wider programme of support for local communities, and we are delighted to be working with Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Community Land Trust.

Wiltshire Council
Wiltshire Council is working closely with partners, including Swindon Borough Council, Community First and Wiltshire Community Land Trust, to help our communities take an active role in building affordable homes and meet the housing need on their doorstep through Homes of Our Own. Community-led housing allows local people to play a leading and lasting role in solving housing needs where they live, and Home of Our Own plays a significant part in getting the housing balance right in our communities.

Community First
Community First is a registered charity (288117) based in Devizes. As a member of ACRE, we support rural communities across Wiltshire and Swindon through advisory services for Village Halls and Local Councils. We envisage, create and manage projects to support people and places including community transport schemes, community led housing, community organising and volunteering services.

Wiltshire Community Land Trust
Wiltshire Community Land Trust is independent and not-for-profit Registered Society for Community Benefit. It is one of the regional Community Land Trust support organisations working closely with the National CLT Network to promote Community Land Trust development in England.
Swindon Borough Council
Swindon Borough Council is a unitary authority within the County of Wiltshire. Taking into consideration the recent review of social housing, it is appropriate that we consider how we can connect housing with communities. As a Local Planning Authority, we aim to advise and support community-led housing in the area to meet the needs of local communities.
